Foundation Announces Fairview is Preferred Site
The City of Fairview, Oregon on the Columbia River is the location being sought by the Foundation as the permanent home of Ranger.
We have been working hard to identify the perfect location for a museum, military memorial, educational center and emergency preparedness center and Fairview is it!
Fairview is a part of East County, just east of Portland and sits on the beautiful Columbia River. It has easy access from I-5, I-205, Marine Drive and is on the way from Portland to the Columbia Gorge, a National Scenic Area. The enthusiasm for Ranger in their city has been unbelievable and has pushed the Foundation to look at some significant challenges with renewed excitement.
Everyone in this area asks “Can Ranger make it up the river to Chinook Landing”, and the answer is YES! The next question is whether it would take parking and access from the busiest public boat launch on the Columbia and the answer is no, we will work to create an area that works in conjunction with the existing boat launch and parking, not impacting that operation. The ship is large, but will not take away fishing on the Columbia.
There are so many positives to this project and each time we ask a tough question, the answers work.
This project is massive, and needs the support of everyone involved to make it happen.
The Foundation is in urgent need of your contributions to keep this moving and we have a very short time frame. Please take a moment to make a contribution, send a letter of support and then send this out to everyone you know so we can reach goals.
We look forward to working with the City of Fairview, Metro and the surrounding communities to bring Ranger to her new home.
