August 10, 2012 – USS Ranger celebrates her 55th birthday.
July 31, 2012 – Phase II Revised Application due to Naval Sea Systems Command with updated required studies for Fairview site for USS Ranger in order to proceed to Phase III of the ship donation process.
September 1, 2010 – Phase II partial application received by Naval Sea Systems Command.
August 10, 2010 – Fairview, Oregon selected as the permanent site to moor USS Ranger to create a Community Heritage Center on USS Ranger’s 53rd Birthday.
June 2010 – The Foundation was asked to consider Troutdale for Ranger’s new home. Due to river access issues the Foundation looked further West to Fairview, Oregon.
August 15, 2009 – Phase I completed application to acquire USS Ranger received by Naval Sea Systems Command.
The Foundation uses USS Ranger Foundation to better represent the missions of the Community Heritage Center to be a museum, memorial, education center, emergency preparedness site, community civic center, economic development driver and tourism destination.
2005 – The Foundation set its sights on Portland, Oregon to see if an appropriate mooring site could be located for USS Ranger.
2003 – 2004 – The Foundation explored the possibilities of mooring USS Ranger in Everett and Tacoma, Washington, plus other suitable locations.
June 2003 – Hank Glindeman as Chairman of the Board of the Foundation requested the U. S. Navy Inactive Ships Program place USS Ranger on donation hold pending the change in her status by the decommissioning of USS Constellation (CV64)
September 2001 – USS Ranger Museum Foundation granted 501 c3 status in Washington.
March 2001 – USS Ranger Museum Foundation was formed by Al Valentini, Hank Glindeman RADM USN (Ret.), Dan Pederson CAPT. USN (Ret.), Ken Estes and Tim Schwartz as officers in the state of Washington. All except Al Valentini served aboard USS Ranger.
